George Asamoah

georgeasamoah@ln.edu.hk

Hello! My name is George Asamoah and I am from Ghana. I am a graduate from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Ghana with a major in English and a minor in Sociology. Because of my passion of helping students become better academically, I served as a Teaching Assistant at the English department after graduating, of which I had the opportunity to help several students navigate their academic journey with ease. I also have over three years experience of teaching English to students from primary to the Senior High School level which I garnered from my part-time teaching and internships as an English Tutor. I often do not have much words to describe myself. I usually like people to experience all the amazing things about me in person. Away from academics, I love music and drumming, I love cooking and I love to help others for which I have created a foundation called Joyful Givers Foundation which has provided assistance to the poor, needy and sick in Ghana for over 5 years and still counting.

This is my first time out of my country, and I am happy my first international experience is with Hong Kong. I look forward to learning a lot from the culture and the amazing people in this city. Feel free to come to me anytime you see me around!

Sarah Cronin

sarahcronin@ln.edu.hk

Hi! My name is Sarah Cronin and I’m from the US. I went to university at the American University of Paris where I majored in Journalism and minored in Computer Science. I served as editor on many student publications during my undergraduate degree, so I have plenty of experience editing student writing—and I find a lot of satisfaction in doing it as well. I worked as a private English tutor for kids while I lived in Paris, so I’m comfortable helping students develop their speaking and reading abilities in the English language, no matter what their level is. Please feel free to book an appointment with me or drop-in to the CEAL office if you want any help with English or just want to chat about travel, the US, Paris or anything you’d like!

Ali Mughal

alimughal@ln.edu.hk

Hi, there! I’m Ali Mughal, one of the Visiting English Tutors at ELSS. I am from Pakistan, where I graduated from Forman Christian College University. I did my bachelor’s degree in English Language and Literature aiming to get into teaching, which has been my passion for most of my life. In Pakistan, I have taught as an English language instructor, helping students improve their language skills in preparation for IELTS as well as other English proficiency tests. I love languages and am always interested in learning something new and always enthusiastic about an opportunity to engage with people from cultures different than my own. Other than teaching, my hobbies include making music and watching movies. As a learner of English as a second language, I developed my language skills mostly through my hobbies. I feel like it is very important to learning English through fun ways, and that is what I am now bringing to the table as a VET at ELSS. So feel free to come to the Drop-in Center at ELSS or book an appointment anytime.

Teresa Pazzaglini

Hi~ My name is Teresa Pazzaglini. I’m from Hong Kong and Italy, but grew up in mainland China. Returning to Hong Kong for my undergraduate studies, I majored in Biological Science and minored in Social Science at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST). I have been active as an English Buddy in HKUST’s Centre for Language Education, Biology and English tutor for secondary school students and Sunday School teacher. In my free time, I enjoy watching period dramas, reading Greek mythology retellings, visiting art and history museums, knitting and translating articles on topics that I may not otherwise learn about. My interest in teaching English as a second language comes from my experience tutoring my cousins and from translating for my friends and family. I look forward to meeting all of you, making new friends, and being part of the Lingnan community.

Michelle Singhof

michellesinghof@ln.edu.hk

Hi! I'm Michelle Singhof and I am from Germany. I found my way to Hong Kong in 2020 to study Biochemistry and Cell Biology at HKUST. While I have a science-background with multiple years of lab experience, my interests are all over the place - I love learning a bit about everything! I have a creative side and enjoy working with textiles, including crocheting pieces for local fashion designers. At the same time, I'm really interested in language teaching and learning and have worked as a German and English tutor since high school. I find it fascinating to see how different people approach and think about language, what struggles they face and what comes to them easily. I'd love to hear about the things you study, what you're interested in in your day-to-day life, and share my own experiences with you, while also helping you achieve your English-learning and academic goals. Come say hi to me anytime!
