John Muratbayev

Hey everyone! My name is John and I am a non-local graduate from Hong Kong PolyU, where I majored in International Shipping and Logistics. I have spent the past 4 years working as an English tutor guiding people of all ages and backgrounds through their learning journey. Teaching and helping others are great passions of mine, being able to learn about them in the process only makes it better!

I am a huge fan of music: from jazz and classical, to hip-hop and metal; I am always open to talk about it too! I also enjoy singing for a crowd and did a few gigs in a couple jazz clubs around Hong Kong.

I believe the most important part about learning a language is being able to enjoy it, especially through wholesome communication. If that sounds interesting, feel free to come in!

Laura Kelly

Hello, my name is Laura Kelly. I am from the Chicago-land area in the U.S. I graduated from Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas in 2021. I double majored in Chinese Studies and Sociology and minored in Linguistics and Women and Gender Studies (WAGS). When I was in university, I was involved in a social sorority, helped in the admissions office, and participated as writing peer tutor for a year. Outside of academics, I really enjoy cooking and traveling. I also really love dance and used to Irish dance when I was younger. I have traveled to Ireland, Portugal, Belgium, and France to dance at international festivals.

I spent my last year working at Trinity in the Center for International Engagement and the East Asian Studies department planning student events and conducting admin work.

This is my first time in Hong Kong, and I’ve loved exploring the city so far! I'm super excited to meet y’all, and I'm always happy to help!

Lastly, I'm a bit of an athletic person. I was part of my university's rugby team and I'm a fan of ice skating figures such as Yuzuru Hanyu and Yevgenia Medvedeva.

George Asamoah

Hello! My name is George Asamoah and I am from Ghana. I am a graduate from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Ghana with a major in English and a minor in Sociology. Because of my passion of helping students become better academically, I served as a Teaching Assistant at the English department after graduating, of which I had the opportunity to help several students navigate their academic journey with ease. I also have over three years experience of teaching English to students from primary to the Senior High School level which I garnered from my part-time teaching and internships as an English Tutor. I often do not have much words to describe myself. I usually like people to experience all the amazing things about me in person. Away from academics, I love music and drumming, I love cooking and I love to help others for which I have created a foundation called Joyful Givers Foundation which has provided assistance to the poor, needy and sick in Ghana for over 5 years and still counting.

This is my first time out of my country, and I am happy my first international experience is with Hong Kong. I look forward to learning a lot from the culture and the amazing people in this city. Feel free to come to me anytime you see me around!
